ocd and porn
question for my fellow ocd/moral ocd havers, how do you cope with some of the shit you see here (and on the internet in general)? not looking for advice per se but just wanna open up a discussion

as clarification what i mean by this is how does your ocd react to something that disturbs you and how do you deal with that, specifically when it comes to sexual topics

non ocd brain people please don’t be an asshole

There are some artists that draw some "sus stuff", and I usually try my best not to comment of them.

I don't know if that's ocd or being reasonable. Maybe a bit of both. But it gets annoying when I see an artist I like and expect the worst. So I usually just "vet" their name or pixiv

for me i can barely enjoy anything by an artist if they made something that makes my moral ocd freak out, it makes me feel disgusting

I'll run into stuff I don't care for now and then, and then I click on.
I see some people make a point of commenting on stuff they don't like in a non-constructive way. Like, sure, give pointers on how something could be better, but the comments I see are basically kink shaming.

Somebody out there enjoys seeing a girl's cut off head get fucked up the neck.
Be happy they can watch something like that on here, and don't have to go try it out on your sister.

The beauty of a site like this is that it's possible to enjoy things that you couldn't in reality.
I have a rapekink, for instance, but that doesn't mean I'm fingering in the corner when I see a girl assaulted in the street. I'm gonna call the cops and hope they arrive in time to save the guy from getting all the mace down his throat.
Yet I can still enjoy the kink because I know what I'm looking at isn't real.

The kink stuff doesn't bother me, especially since this is a site named after and dedicated to the most outlandish and obscure porn possible, but I do get where you're coming from. One of the things my OCD tends to flare up over is grammatical stuff, so as an example I used bolding and underlining to show how your unedited post looks to me-

To answer your question, I fix the things I can such as when I quote someone and do my best to ignore lack of capitalization and punctuation when I can't fix it. Yes, it still needles me every time I see it, but if you're going to live somewhat peacefully with your OCD then you've got to reach some sort of compromise with it. The one I've come to is "Overlook this right now and I'll indulge you by letting you run wild to your heart's content with that later on". The OCD still grumbles, sometimes bitterly, but overall that's the solution that has worked for me.

i think a lot of people are heavily misunderstanding this post, what i’m talking about isn’t “i saw something weird and i should just ignore it” it’s “i saw something fucked up, my brain latched onto it and forced me to go back and look at the image several times and then i spiraled into constantly thinking about the image and feeling so disgusted with myself and everyone else that i couldn’t fall asleep until 4am and then i woke up still completely wracked by the experience to the point i cant eat because my stomach is clenching so hard”

You assume I'm non-ocd?
Hon, if I check out an artist's gallery and I like it, I am not allowed to go offline until I've gone through every picture.
I am need-to-go-to-bed-but-there's-800-more-pictures OCD.

Now, as for justifying violence...
I doubt anybody would give a fuck if we were talking about stills from Robocop.
We can argue about this as much as we like, and chances are we will because we're both rather opinionated, but what's going on here is very selective tolerance.
We'll tolerate the things we're socially obliged to tolerate, or because we're part of the things we tolerate, but sweet Jesus if somebody enjoys a cartoon about necrophilia.

Look, I'll do a very hard pivot to your side if it turns out that these people are actually dangerous to society, but there's no unbiased research that I know of to say that is the case.
I know one guy personally who is into guro. We don't talk kinks because we just don't match there, but he's one of the sweetest guys I know.

So yeah, I'll agree an interest in guro is weird, but it's no basis to judge somebody on.

Well, I do now, after reading the posts that were made in the time it took me to type the rant above.
Edit: And I apoligize for going off on that rant.

My moral OCD's been beaten to death by constant wars, thinking those wars are a good idea, people assaulting people because they think their opinions are facts, talent shows, intolerance, hypocrisy disguised as good intentions, and let's cut this list short by saying "general malaise."
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have 700 more pictures to go.

I can't speak for Sugarholes, but I do understand it. In fact, I think it's a great and perfectly descriptive term that I wish I'd had in my lexicon many times in the past.

Here's my question: As someone who has Moral OCD, seeing many of the images on this site must be literal torture for you. Is it a case of your OCD not allowing you to not look at the more... shall we say "exotic" pics on this site even though you know the memory of those images will cause you a great deal of distraction afterwards?

Yes and no, I try to counteract compulsively clicking on images that will trigger an OCD spiral by blacklisting tags and such but obviously stuff slips through the cracks still. Sometimes seeing forum posts will be a trigger too. :(
