i've been dreading this question. i heard they make big money though

(might as well point this out. but my name is a joke i actually dont think porn is evil)

(and also im talking about erotica art, just thought it'd be embarrassing to put it in the title)

Go for it and don't feel discouraged after your first attempt. You won't make a masterpiece right out of the gate and thats okay. Every art form takes time and practice to truly make something special.

Try it. It takes a while to actually look ok, but you'll get there eventually.

The best way to keep yourself from doing something is to ask advice from people on the internet.

Just go for it, and keep in mind you'll get more hate than love, because... again. Internet.

Also, this question would be easier to answer if you had some art to show.
Then again, I saw stick-figure porn on here the other day, so... Yeah. Internet.

Technically you would be already an artist if you do something artistic as an hobby, even if you don't make money with it yet. :3

If you enjoy it, go for it. Why would you question it? It’s always fun and rewarding learning something new

While I think it can be a worthwhile endeavor, doing it for the "big bucks" is typically a quick way to either get you more into it or accrue a real hate for it over time. I've known artists who have a large enough following that get known for "being the artist that draws [insert niche here]" and heard those private confessions of just like, being narrowed down because it's what keeps food on their table or keeps them relevant. It's a terrible way to live, but then again, there's that saying about "never do something you're good at for free."

in the end, i myself am just a jaded artist that has a more cynic view of things. if you want to pursue it, do it! just do it for a purpose, or find something that makes you want to keep doing it so that the number-game doesn't eat away at you.

takes time, but anyone can draw.

tl;dr - go for it!

I'm thinking of going back to trying drawing again myself, though I gotta take care of some things first before I do that. Though if you think its your thing to do, then go ahead and give it try.

Go for it, but don't do it just for the money. Sure, some artists do make big bank, but in the same way that rock stars do- For every one that's making big bucks, there are thousands not making a penny off their work. Do it because you love doing it.

What kind of artist? Writer,Animator, 3D Modeler etc.?
Each art category has its own market and all of them are different in terms of income and the work you have to put it before you actually start making any. I'd say, be an artist because you enjoy it first, do it for the money second. Otherwise you may just get disappointed and drop honing your skills which may prove fruitful in the future.

If you enjoy it and want to pursue it out of your own interest, go for it!

Also agree. Unless you plan on playing the "chunky salsa" card, your content is just gonna get lost in a sea of other unsuccessful artists with similar content.
