Why some Roleplayer never use Discord?
You know, as a roleplayer in general, I never get why some would use the mail feature over discord.

I don't mind roleplaying in R34, using the mail and all, but it can be buggy and it a little annoying at time. But that just preferences, so that is okay.

I don't use discord myself for must of my stuff as I actually do work in my Discord environment, I'm a game developer and me and my team of 4 tend to use discord more for that scope, and personal stuff.

I know I can make a alternative account but at that point I know I'd get lost on them, so I prefer just doing it on R34 mails

Ohhhhhhhhh interesting, interesting.
That plenty understandable

Besides those that use it personally, I would have to say it's due to the fact you gotta be pumping out responses since one may be pressured to respond quick once they receive a response.
With Rule 34 mail, you're good to take your time and you have to due to the minute cooldown.

I prefer discord but yeah. Some people just don't have a convenient easy access discord for smut.

Speaking from experience, my own RPs have generally been more consistent over R34 mail than over Discord.

My issue with Discord is formatting an RP, since I want to have it in a contained instance that is separate from regular chatting/planning/dirty talk. All of which to say private servers are the solution, but if you start RPing with multiple people, that's multiple servers. This as opposed to a single mail chain that you can reply to, that's generally why I prefer mail, purely because by default mail-chains is slightly more suited than private DMs.

Furthermore, I've found when things move off-site, they break down fairly quickly, though that is purely anecdotal. I would say that R34 even if the mail system isn't perfect, is an all-in-one platform. I can do other stuff whilst I'm waiting for mail, I'm just minimizing discord.

That doesn't even touch on privacy and personal boundaries, as many are going to want to have a barrier between their porn and their real lives. So that means alternate Discords, which means browser discord or logging in/out of your main. Then for the other aspect of people inviting themselves into your life, since Discord can be much more familiar with your day-to-day affairs, people can be misled into thinking they're suddenly a part of your life. That is to say, some people can get weird when they're a bit too comfortable.

i generally don't like to jump straight to discord especially with someone i don't know that well, mostly because i don't have a secondary account for lewd stuff any more. i have to feel like i can chat to someone about more than just sex if i want to give them my discord. plus, Bricked_Wall summed it up pretty nicely. the mail system has its quirks but it does allow you time to think about what you write before you send it.

I just prefer to stick to the porn site itself, and Discord is another set of ToS's that I don't want to accidentally break.

I like to categorize roleplays, and the best way to do that is to have some here, some there, some in other places, so on.

A lot of times I enjoy the slower tempo of exchanges of responses every few minutes. I feel like if I miss a horny discord DM by a minute or two the other person will just leave and do something else.

This as well, I'm just not really in the mind of accepting just anyone now and I don't bother with having multiple accounts on an app that's not really my primary social app anyway. I've also had people enthusiastically want my discord and then abruptly pull the plug and delete me mid conversation so it's not really worth the effort unless you're REALLY enjoying talking with me and I REALLY enjoy talking with you.

I've no idea. I prefer discord to RP almost every time. I've noticed that people who prefer to stay on R34 just ghost you. Like, a lot. Maybe it's easier for them to ditch someone they wanna move on from?
Idk honestly, lol.

I can agree with that statement.

It's mostly the anonymity and not being able to seen as Online. It doesn't make them feel obligated to respond thus "taking their time". Even though you can do the same on Discord someone mentioned earlier that one could feel pressured into saying something when on Discord.

Discord essentially is just "too fast" for certain people.

I don't add people to Discord unless been talking and cool with them to begin with. I'm not gonna add a stranger that will just remove/block at any moment as only thing we got going on is RP. I'd either some people not know what I'm up to. Even if what I'm up to playing XCOM 2 with 500 mods installed.

I can agree and understand that. But honestly, if an entire two weeks is "taking their time", I'd rather not bother to continue something if nearly every reply is gonna take that long.
