Cute, Sexy or Beautiful
So, some of you may remember a time when I resurrected a long dead thread about this exact topic. While I had fun sharing my thoughts on there, the mods deleted that thread shortly thereafter.

All three words in the title are very relative terms, so what I want to do is get your thoughts on what they mean to you. What makes a character cute, sexy or beautiful? How do you distinguish all those terms?

Some clarifications
1. While you don’t necessarily have to, it’s probably best that you include pictures of characters as examples illustrating what you’re saying. This may not be a rule but treat this as a guideline.

2. All three terms are supposed to be in relation to people you find attractive; someone you can actually date and bang. So, while people with animal ears are perfectly kosher for “cute” in this thread, the same cannot be said for listing actual puppies, kittens and bunnies as examples.

3. I think it’s reasonable that any of these three terms can be one in the same in the right context. I also understand that more than one of these terms can apply to a single character. But we can recognize the fact these terms tend to be used differently more often than not and I don’t think anyone is an exception to that rule. So, if you’re gonna post here, please actually engage with the questions rather than shrugging and saying “None of this matters to me”.

Before anyone asks, no you don’t have to use as many pictures as I do. Pics are optional anyway

Cute: The main way I determine a character as being more cute than they are the other categories is whether or not my first instinct when I see them is to make them my personal bondage bunny. If I really, really want to tease and get a rise out of them just to see the kinds of faces they’d make, then that’s a good indicator that cute is the best way to describe that character. Often but not always, this type of character for me tends to more petite and youthful, but there’s also busty milfs who can be cute. Their demeanor is either bubbly, shy or pouty.

Sexy: When I find a character, “sexy”, they activate the most primitive, carnal parts of my brain. More than anything, I want to use all these characters’ holes as ruthlessly as possible and treat them like a fucktoy, cover them in cum, pull their hair, choke them, slap them with my dick and breed them thoroughly. A very messy affair. The body types of these types of characters can vary, but their demeanor is often slutty and seductive. Meaning they have a mind as dirty as mine and a lot of confidence, they often try to provoke their partners into getting as rough as possible.

Beautiful: This would be someone who takes my breath away when I look at them. I think one of the most universal qualities of characters I’d describe as beautiful is that there’s something in their design that makes them seem powerful and awe inspiring to me. My first instinct when I see a character like this is to be deferential and even go as far as to worship them. Most characters who provoke that feeling tend to be super voluptuous, mature-looking women. But of course there’s men who can reach this category for me too as you’ll see in my examples.

I think of shortstacks as straddling the line between sexy and cute. I think that might be part of the reason why they are so attractive

Oh trust me, there's interesting discussions to be had on this; I honestly just didn't see this thread until now.

Will share a few thoughts on this soon;

In the realm of beauty, I'd say that there are a "few" subtle distinctions that distinguish whether someone looks beautiful, sexy, or cute.

A person with a beautiful face can be, in some ways, likened to a painting. That is, there are certain facial details / features that, much like those in art, exhibits qualities that are universally liked. In a sense, just as someone stares at a beautiful painting, so too does that happen similarly for people who carry beautiful faces. In fact, those with beautiful faces may tend to elicit compliments that go beyond one's looks. This can help build one's perceived beauty. If I were to come across someone who has a beautiful face, I would likely describe the face as welcoming, likable, elegant, endearing, trustworthy, etc.

Now, what about those with "sexy" faces? I'd say that it lends itself to physical attraction and sex appeal. For instance, in the case of a dude, a strong jaw, facial hair, or large nose can, when considering his face shape altogether, be facial features that render his face to be perceived as sexy. For a woman, such features could range from a small nose to bedroom eyes to long hair to fuller lips, etc. Such facial features would elicit sexual desirability from others. Someone with a sexy face may come across as hot, striking, dominant, seductive, bold, etc. Sharp, thick eyebrows usually contribute to a face being perceived as hot, since they add more contrast to the eye area. (Hence, part of why most makeup is heavily geared towards the eye area, be it eyebrows, eyelashes. Lastly, there's the angularity of a face that can exhibit sex appeal, through the facial contours that are revealed.

Now, a face being described as "cute" is slightly more difficult. I think one factor that might contribute to this is the amount of facial fat a face has. Those who have found faces, or some amount of facial fat, may have been perceived to look cute.

I think one way to discern whether someone is beautiful, hot, or cute, is to listen on what other people describe that person as. If people's interpretations lean towards R-rated descriptions, then it's no wonder that the person is found to be sexy. At the same time, there's not much compliments that go outside of physical attraction, nor are there much remarks about their overall personality.

Ultimately, I do think that all of this depends on one's overall view of beauty.

Edit: Fuck me, I accidentally misclicked. Don't mind this post, I'll add more

I think the facial fat factor for cuteness has to do with it reminding us of babies. We’re pretty hard-wired to find anything that remotely resembles babies to be cute.

I think there are a lot neat things you had to say, but I feel like you concentrated on faces so much that it was to the exclusion of things like bodytype. Yes the face is important, but are there other parts of the body that can you look at and say, “That’s beautiful/sexy/cute”?

Edit: Also, just wanna say thank you for contributing. Now this thread wasn’t a total waste :)

Yep, what you said about the facial fat being reminiscent of the facial features for babies does ring very true to me! In fact, for your last point there, I couldn't agree more with that!

Honestly, I think you may be right about my rather narrow focus on the face being perceived as either cute, sexy, or beautiful. In hindsight, the body is definitely just as important to the matter, especially since both the face and the body provide different contextual cues, or clues, as to how they're perceived altogether.

Body type is an interesting matter, though, since its focus does shift over to different factors such as one's waist-to-hip ratio (some fancy curves, others maybe not so much), musculature, height, etc. I guess, in the case of men, the body would determine elements like one's physical strength (lanky vs buff, etc), level of athleticism (lean vs muscular), perceived dominance, all of which can, with the face included, result in a dude either being seen to be cute, sexy, or beautiful. In the case of women, there is the quintessential "hourglass" shape that's been associated with adding femininity to a woman's body.

To be honest though, I think the body type is more complex, since there's a lot of variations for it across multiple parts of the body. I just figured that the face would be presumed to be the focal point for people to determine if one looks sexy, cute, etc.

Oh yeah, I'm always down for sharing thoughts on matters like these! This is all certainly interesting in its own right :)

Apologies for the double post, but I figured that perhaps visual representations could help convey my thoughts about this!

Just as an example, one might consider this to be cute:

This one to be beautiful:

No probs. I encourage people to give examples. And the ones you gave aren’t far off from the types of examples I used. Catwoman is iconic in terms of how seductive she is, that chick from elden ring has an exotic & powerful vibe about her and that Mal girl can definitely fit my criteria for cute with that youthful, petite frame of hers.

Speaking of which, I’m curious how you feel about my analysis? I tried to focus on the types of feelings a character stirs within me to inform how I categorize them

Cute: Nice smile, big puppy dog eyes, round pert butts, breasts on the smaller side. If he's a guy, he probably has a rather feminine face, or he's got a bit of a belly and a cute fuzzy beard. Youthful (not weird youthful, like college age) and seems like a lot of fun. Would make a really cute bottom and/or be fun to tie up.

rule34.xxx/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=5828920

Sexy: Provokes an immediate visceral reaction of "god DAMN". I'm partial to the romance-novel aesthetic; the men are all lean muscle, the women are bombshells with killer curves and smoochable lips, and everyone's hair is amazing. Of course, that is far from the only kind of sexy I can appreciate. Fit women, pretty boys, tough girls, and different flavors of androgyny all deserve Ms. Flora's love. One thing is a constant, though: the eyes. A good smoldering gaze can make an already sexy picture mouthwatering, and render a PG likeness surprisingly erotic.

Beautiful/Handsome: There's something timeless, something classic. Harmonious proportions, striking features. Eyelashes are probably involved. You could imagine an artist keeping them around as a muse, or drawing them (naked, obviously) in a life drawing class.

Very nice explanations you gave. Your standards for cute when it comes to girls are like mine in many ways; I definitely tend to think of college girls when I think of cute characters.

Your section on sexy was good too. I definitely vibe with that first sentence the most.

The beautiful section surprised me the most though. Specifically the pictures. I feel like it might have illustrated your point better if you used different characters than the ones you already posted in the other two sections. But it’s your post at the end of the day, and I do acknowledge that these terms can overlap in many cases. Personally, I would describe Zelda as cute and use Urbosa as an example of beautiful.

(Man I should finally get around to playing BOTW)

Guess I'll jump in on this...

Cute.
Someone being cute is kind of like the first level of attention they can receive from me - if I look at someone and they look nice as well as fit in the general area to be called my type, I would call them cute. It can mainly be facially without much of their body being as I like for it to be. All comes down to the face, primarily.
rule34.xxx/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=9329091

Sexy.
Similarly to being cute, sexy is an attraction I have to someone's body, and not so much their face or anything like that - if they've got the curves and the fat where it stacks, then yeah, that mama looks fine as hell.
rule34.xxx/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=9297029

BEAUTIFUL.
Someone who's beautiful is just someone who hits both criteria. Cute face, sexy body, top it off with a nice personality and we can call that absolute beauty, state of the art work right there.
rule34.xxx/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=6150725

These refs all kind of look cute and sexy, but eh, I'm too lazy to look for specifics lol
