Well, not in a time like this of course, but Kyiv has a lot of beautiful places, i'm not from Kyiv, but my aunt lives here.
Yeah, I'd say it's a fine enough idea. We've got some cool places: there's a giant wooden gate that was called after the one in the Byzantines (lots of history there, pretty cool stuff if you're into that), we've got a nice lil' botanical garden, entrance is free if you climb beneath the fence on the side. The city is pretty green generally, right now in spring it looks very alive and welcoming.
Although, personally? If I had to choose a place to recommend for pretty sights, I'd go with Кам'янець-Подільский. The whole city is located on this... gorge, I guess you'd call it? Tall, super vertical cliffs surround the basin beneath, streams running at their base, circling the entire perimeter and providing a very soothing atmosphere. And, of course, who could forget about the big fucking castle on top of them?! It's pretty cool, I've been inside. Not quite as exciting as one may hope but it serves its function.
There's also a cool park area right on the cliff, the edge of it literally has no sorts of railguards or anything of the like, it's crazy. Like, no joke, I just come out of the brush on this slope and BOOM! I see the edge of the darn cliff looking over the stream! It's a long fall, I'll tell you that! The intrusive thoughts pushed me hard within that moment but thankfully I don't have any guts.
The family moved there when Kyiv was particularly dicey and I'd say it worked out pretty well. I got to see a very pretty place and I even went jogging each day because there was basically nothing else to do! The nature really does wonders for a person...
