How do we do it here for manga and anime characters?

Are characters given their original Japanese names instead of the mostly altered U.S. ones (like in the digimon and pokemon series)?

And if the original ones are used: Is name pattern western (given name first) or like in Japan (family name first)?

This is an English language site, so tags are done the English language way, this applies to most posts, so no I am not wrong in saying that it is the rules.

However Anime and Manga or Japanese names may be tagged in the same order as they are in the publications, it makes no sense to reverse the order, Nico Robin by the way is a western name so wouldn't be reversed, this is why names must be tagged how they are credited in the publication.

Yeah, a lot of the Persona_4 character names are still backwards, I'm assuming because of how they were tagged on Paheal before I went through and tagged all of them.

I put in alias requests, but haven't looked to see if they've been gotten to for a couple of weeks.

Also, most everything under the Nanako_Dojima and Doujima_Nanako tags is loli artwork.

Yes we get alot of incorrect tags from other sites.

The original name isn't "dawn", it's "hikari".

It happens because it's the most commonly used name for that character on porn sites, that tag came from other websites, who mostly use that name.

gelbooru and danbooru use hikari though...

I'd like it show if it's the original name "name_(orig)" or a common nick "name_(alt)". Then it doesn't really matter, as long as the alias gets approved.

I'm not surprised that even here had aliases too, let's just say something like this rule34.xxx/index.php?page=alias&s=list&search=May

but that alias is going from us-only name to original version... which is what I was told was the correct way here on rule34 as on gelbooru and danbooru...

the thing is: It just sucks if one uses the name tags for addons like the danbooru downloader for firefox to have a mix of like 20 spellings from different language versions and even wrong spellings from scanlations and fansubs for one single character.

we already had most character names to the original version - but then someone decided to switch them to us-only.
